PALM

How can we gain insight on current patterns of lipid-lowering therapies to improve lipid management?

Patient and Provider Assessment of Lipid Management

Study Conclusion:

PALM, a multicenter, observational registry, was designed to better understand contemporary lipid management as well as the beliefs and attitudes of patient and providers regarding cholesterol, cardiovascular risk assessment, and options for lipid treatments. Most commonly reported reason for discontinuing statin therapy was fear of side effects such as muscle pain (54.9%). Adults never on a statin reported they would be willing to try a statin if their doctor recommended it to lower their risk of heart disease (46.3%).

Study Population:
Approximately 7,500 patients in the community practice setting from 175 sites across the U.S. with cardiovascular risk factors.
