Renal Hemodialysis Patients Allocated Apixaban Versus Warfarin in Atrial Fibrillation
Study Focus:
This study will determine the safety of using blood thinners in patients with atrial fibrillation and on hemodialysis and will compare apixaban, a newer blood thinner, against warfarin, a traditional blood thinner.
Study Population:
155 hemodialysis patients meeting enrollment criteria were randomized across 63 activated sites in the U.S.
Clinical Events Classification Insight:
A total of 111 events were adjudicated, including major and minor bleeding, death [cardiac, non-cardiac, or undetermined], stroke, and systemic embolism.
