Will a different approach to catheterization reduce bleeding/complications in women?

Study of Access Site for Enhancement of PCI for Women
Study Conclusion:
SAFE-PCI, a pragmatic clinical trial leveraging the NCDR registry, showed that compared with access via the femoral artery, radial access did not significantly reduce bleeding or vascular complications in women undergoing PCI. In a larger sample size of women undergoing cardiac catheterization or PCI, radial access significantly reduced bleeding or vascular complications.
Study Population:
1,787 women undergoing either diagnostic cardiac catheter or elective PCI at 60 U.S. sites using data from the registry-based National Cardiovascular Research Infrastructure network.
